Professional Scrum Master Certification (PSM-1)
During the Spring Semester of 2018, Professor Darryl Allen of The Mentorship Institute and I worked together in the Small Business Management course at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois. Professor Allen, who is a project management professional, has brought the Agile Leadership program of Scrum Management to the class. Using several teaching and project techniques, we will be one of the first high schools in the nation to have teenage students pass the PSM-1 certification. The Professional Scrum Master Level 1 (PSM-1) will certify that students have industry recognition to demonstrate their mastery of the content. This is the first steps to being an Agile Coach which is the newest industry standard in project managment.

#disrupteducation
#disrupteducation is a movement I am working on with several current and former students who are not what you would call "traditional" students. The movement focuses on the "one size fits all" myth of education.
As a secondary educator, I see many students who are disengaged in the current educational system that tries to teach everyone to take tests and get into a 4 year university immediately following high school. I am sharing stories of current and past students who are not interested in following that traditional path. I am looking for commonalities in my research of successful people who have taken non-traditional education routes. Through these voices, I am creating discussions focusing on better ways to serve all students rather than "pushing" them through a system that doesn't allow for all students to find and pursue their true passions in life. High School Creation
My passion is to redesign a high school. I want to disrupt traditional education. I am currently working on a project that will change the current system of educating secondary students. This high school will be geared towards progressive learning. Curriculum will be aligned to the need of its community and region. My belief is that current secondary schools are overly reliable on standardized tests and systematic inhibitors. I have currently created a team of highly progressive educators and students with the intention creating a school to motivate students to do the important work of becoming productive problem solvers and ultimately productive citizens. The video below is a pitch to school leaders to look at the idea of a Community Learning Project I believe every high school student can and should learn while participating in.
OPRFHS Global Leaders Summit
I am currently one many educators involved in changing the way Oak Park and River Forest High School views educational equity. Our team of students and faculty traveled for 11 days through European cities including, Amsterdam, The Hague, Paris, Davos, and Geneva. The culmination of the trip happened at the Global Leadership Summit in Switzerland, a two-day experience where students met individuals from around the world and other schools to create projects.
The Summit is an opportunity for students from OPRFHS and the world to connect. We heard from world-renowned keynote speakers like Sir Ken Robinson, Clint Smith, and Shiza Shahid. Our students worked with global experts, and collaborated with peers in small international teams. We were taught the design-thinking process in order to develop solutions to some of the largest challenges we face in education today. The goal was to be inspired to take action back home at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Oak Park and River Forest WiFi ProjectThe Oak Park and River Forest WiFi project will bring together the community via internet access. I am part of a team which will look for ways to implement WiFi throughout Oak Park and River Forest's schools, parks, and business districts. This exciting program involves business feedback, student learning, and bringing the educational and business communities together.
OPRF School of Business Semester Kick-Off PresentationsAt the beginning of each semester, all students in the OPRF School of Business are brought together for a motivating presentation. This presentation covers topics such as mindsets, business, and grit. The purpose of this presentation is to inspire the students to reach their highest potential.

The OPRF School of Business Leaders Forum
I had the opportunity to plan and implement the 1st OPRF School of Business Leaders Forum which occurred on March 18th, 2015. The OPRF School of Business was host to 7 local and regional business leaders who spoke to OPRF School of Business students about business skills and expectations. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and network with these high level leaders. The leaders spoke with students for 3 different periods. This powerful forum will be the start of many types of forums in years to come.
