Administrative egos run amok in education systems. Decision makers who only bring in their thoughts and act on their own experiences are everywhere. Listen….if you are a school leader or administrator… go to your best teachers and ask them “if there was one thing they would improve if they were you, what would it be?” If your worker (teacher) is successful with your clients (students) get their opinions on things now. Make sure it isn’t edited. Make sure to listen carefully. AND ACT ON THE SUGGESTIONS!!!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “That’s a good point.” or “That’s a great idea.” When I hear that as a teacher without action from a leader, I quickly understand the bullshit behind it. I stop listening because I’m not listened to. No action happened. Why would I waste my time and effort on you again? If you listen and ACT on suggestions it will guide you to more success in your building. We are so afraid to change. We are so afraid to rattle the system. When administrators are afraid to change, teachers become afraid to change. Ultimately students fear change and hold themselves in a “waiting pattern” until they move on. Stagnation and boredom and crap culture will happen next in your building. Set your ego aside. Find your best teachers. Listen. ACT!!!!!!
This is how you #disrupteducation
